I am the proud owner of a 10 month old springer who I failed badly through my lack of knowledge regarding training. I am starting afresh using eric's great book Gundog training made easy, only a week in.... One thing I have been told I should have a release word i.e. "ok" to release him say from a sit position at home etc..... am i right in doing this? I think I understand when I am training him for the field my release as such will be another command i.e. come, sit then heel etc.
Also I have seen some dogs who constantly watching their owners is this something I should be looking to achieve with Jasper? If so any tips would be great or is this something really only need in the Show ring or obedience competitions
I hope this makes sense, I have the bug but am a novice who aspires to training a champion one day
