I forget but I know 6,000,000 of them didn't surrender in what we call The Great War in 1914 - 1918. Some countries have to call it the 1917 - 1918 because
they sat on the fence.

Fortunately for the Americans the French did not surrender to the British during the "American" War of Independence (otherwise, USA would have still have been a colony and, like Canada and Australia, would not have been late for subsequent conflicts.)
