Looking for suggestions

I'm running a family/friend get together for the Holidays. We're a group of 45/50 going into the Dallas after X-mas day and wanted some suggestions where to eat after we're done sightseeing. A nice BYOB would be great. The problem of course is the amount of people. Last year we ended up at a place downtown as a group and had a pre-arranged buffet, drinks, etc...it was very nice, but looking for other places.

Just wanted to share my experience if it ever can help anyone who ever has to go through this.

My parent's/family dog Mandy was diagnosed with a brain tumour three years ago. We were told there was not treatment possible and it was inoperable.

It is inoperable-that much is true (it's a brain stem tumour).

I have recently been offered a puppy from the first dog and bitch to be tested clear of RD/OSD & NARC in the UK.

What are your thoughts regarding the introduction of DNA Testing.

What are the major benefits of dogs DNA tested 'Clear' for GPRA - RD / OSD - NARC - CNM?

As health screening become more important than working ability?

Is health screening as valuable as such titles as FTCH .

I have a +*%++ due at the end of the week and she looks like she has a phantom preg, she is small.
Had her scanned and she looks to have only 2 live pups on board.
I know scans can be a difficult diagnostic and an xray is best
but how long would you leave her after her due date before seeking a section.

Never had this before

anybody out there who has had this in the past

Folks,

I have a Chesapeake Bay Retriever who is approx 5yrs old and i'm comming round to the conclusion that i want a pup from him. Problem is that i've never before felt the need to go to the bother of arranging a pup from one of my other dogs. He however has proven to be both a good wildfowling dog, fantastic deer tracker and hopeless peg dog.

So, realistically how do i go about sourcing a likely %*@#!, what tests/certificates must i get for him and practically...

We are planning to add black labrador puppy to our family in September this year. We plan to train our new addition to the family ourselves and he will be used primarily as a wildfowling dog. why no changes in GR standard?!

I am slighty upset by the fact that the KC has not made any amendements in the breed standard for the Golden. Is the showgolden of today really structurally sound and fit for work? If no, why no amendments? Is it because the working golden retriever community is so weak and has no power? Why not start a club like the one the working Clumbers have!

My brother is in the market for a good multi purpose hunting dog and stumbled upon the Verein Deutsch Drahthaar (German Wirehair Pointer), which breeding is held to a higher standard than a typical GWP. Does anybody have and comments, pros or cons about this select breed?

Litter before last, brief story, one of the pups had a hernia. I decided to keep her as I did not want to sell a pup that was not 100%
Kept her myself.
Bitch, (dam) was tested for hips, elbows, current eye cert, and is Optigen tested clear of PRA.
The sire is also tested hips 0/0 elbows0/0 Optigen tested.clear eye test etc.

Dam has had a second litter with no hernias what so ever.

The pup herself has a clear eye cert, 5/5 hips and is optigen tested clear...

Can anyone explain why British field trial Goldens most often are not elbow scored? It seems most breeders of field Labs elbow examine their breeding stock? Why not the goldies?

I recently purchase a GSP puppy. The sire was out of a long list of field champions. The mother is also an outstanding pointer. The female was save from an animal rescue group at six months of age with no papers. Is there a way or procedure to go through so I puppy could get papers for her would. If not its no big deal since she is a high quality puppy I was just checking on the registration to see if was possible.

I recently purchased an outstanding GSP to use for hunting quail and pheasants. She has been very trainable and learns quickly. Can I also use her for duck hunting since my hunting buddy's Labrador passed away. I live near St Louis Mo and thought possibly the cold water would be hard since she has a very short coat.

Could anyone with knowledge of breeding help please? I have found a lovely cocker pup, his grandfather is a famous FTCH who I know has bred lots of pups. Without naming him, I notice on his pedigree that his parents both came from the same sire (also a FTCH) but they had differant Dams. If I've got this right that would make them half siblings. Now it obviously hasn't bothered other people who have bought all his pups and know far more than me about breeding but could someone reasurre...
